Here’s How to Finally Finish Your Campervan
Maybe you bought a campervan that somebody else started but never completed.
Or perhaps you have done the insulation, lined the walls, fitted the flooring and reached the point where the empty van finally needs to become a usable camper.
This is where many projects slow down.
The van may look almost finished, but without a bed, storage or somewhere to prepare food, it still cannot be used properly.
The furniture stage is a different kind of job
Insulating, carpeting and fitting flooring are very different from building cabinets.
Furniture requires tools, workspace, accurate cutting and confidence that everything will fit together. Reaching this stage and feeling stuck does not mean you have failed at your self-build. It simply means you have reached a job that requires a different set of skills.
You do not have to become a cabinetmaker to finish your campervan.
Decide what you genuinely need
Before adding furniture, think about how you will use the van.
Most small campers need three basic things:
Somewhere comfortable to sleep
Somewhere to store your belongings
A practical space for food and drinks
You might also want a coolbox, portable toilet or table, but you do not need to include every possible feature.
A simple camper that suits your own trips is far more useful than an ambitious conversion that never gets finished.
Plan the bed first
The bed is usually the largest piece of furniture inside a campervan, so it makes sense to position it first.
Once you know how much space the bed will use, you can see what remains for a kitchen, wheel-arch storage or additional seating.
Use masking tape to mark the furniture dimensions on the floor. Check that doors can open and that you still have enough room to move comfortably through the van.
Choose individual pieces or a matching set
Ready-built modular furniture can remove the biggest remaining hurdle.
A complete matching set can provide the bed, kitchen, storage and additional seating in one practical layout.
Or for a more individual layout, choose only the pieces you need. You might begin with a sliding bed, then add a kitchen unit or wheel-arch cabinet later.
Every van interior is slightly different, so check the measurements carefully before ordering.
